Finding a burger in Seoul isn’t too hard, but finding a burger that you’ll want many times over is another story. In this post, I will be naming a few burger restaurants in Seoul that will definitely hit the spot on those burger cravings you’ve had for a while now. So grab a bunch of friends, or go on an adventure by yourself, and be sure to check out some of the places mentioned below.

I am A Burger

Located in the back streets of Hongdae, this small restaurant is the home of deliciousness packed into one burger. They offer a few different burger options, but be sure to go earlier in the day because they run out of stock every now and then. I am A Burger has two beef patty sizes: 140g or 210g. You can also choose which type of bun you would like: the original, the oatmeal, or the black bun (which is a squid ink bun).

I am a burger

Since I went with my girlfriend, we decided to get two different burgers to half or take bites, or to wait until she got full and I’d eat the rest of hers — haha jokes. I decided to order the Garlic and Cheese Bacon Burger, with a 210g patty on a squid ink bun (10,400 won). When my burger came out, it was a nice size and the toppings looked fresh and not over-packed; the bacon was the right amount of crispiness, too. My first bite into it, and the patty was well-seasoned, held well together, and had the right amounts of pink in it. The the oven-roasted garlic was definitely present in every bite. The squid ink bun didn’t make a huge difference, though, but all around, it was a solid burger. Give it a try if you’re trying to decide what to get.

My girlfriend ordered the Mushroom Cheese Burger with the 140g patty (7,800 won) — *sad face* lol — with the original bun. She made it into a set, which came with a half-size order of crunchy french fries and a drink, for an extra 4,300 won. Her burger came out oozing with sharp American cheese, golden brown on top covering the bun, and oyster mushrooms beneath the bun. Okay, so first bite, the burger was as good as it smelled; all the flavours worked well together, and the cheese — the cheeeeese — probably did it for me. I think I’d order this one over the Garlic Cheese Burger next time.

For two burgers, half-a-set of fries, a soft drink, and a milkshake, the bill came out to 28,000 won, which is a bargain however way you look at it. Check out the complete review of I am a Burger for more info as well and directions.

Firebell

Widely known across the Burger Lovers Community, Firebell has proved to be a contender for the No. 1 burger spot in Seoul. Lucky for me, this isn’t about ranking, but just about letting you know where the place to go is for some delicious burgers. Located in the quiet streets between Seollung and Hanti station, Firebell is making some noise with their burgers and authentic tastes.

I ordered the Dr. Leo burger (9,000 won) with American cheese, bacon, Thousand Island dressing, onions, pickles, tomato, and romaine lettuce. I upgraded to a set for 4,000 won to add a side of fries and a soda. The meat was cooked through nicely with pink bits, which I always look for when eating burgers. The meat was seasoned well, and that bacon was deliciously crispy; cooked to perfection. The Thousand Island sauce brought it all together with a little twist on the overall taste. Along with the fries — which were golden, crunchy, and also really thick — this was a treat to eat, and a reasonable size for what it cost.

The second time around, I decided to try another burger on their menu. This time, I went for the Habana Burger (7,500 won), which had jalapeño peppers, mayo, and white American cheese on top of a beef patty. The Habana burger packed a little kick with each bite, but the cheese kinda smoothed it out when munching down on this burger. The juicy patty just added to the flavors; a burger with meat juices and an added kick definitely goes down well.

They have a small selection of sodas and beers, but also have floats (Dr. Pepper Float, mmmmm… lol). They have some really good milkshakes as well. Check out the following review page for more info and directions to Firebell.

The Left Coast Artisan Burgers

Another well-known name in the Burger Community, Left Coast Burgers aims to use the very best quality ingredients, and it definitely reflects in the taste. It also reflects in the price, but hey, at least you know they’re maintaining a high standard when it comes to producing a good burger! Located in Itaewon, Left Coast has become a place where people go for that friendly atmosphere, solid burgers, and a good beer or cocktail. Anyway, onto the burgers!

On my last visit to LCAB, I ordered the Popeye Burger (16,000 won): a well-cooked and seasoned patty, topped with a candied pork belly (it’s under there in the picture somewhere lol sorry), red onions, and creamed spinach. I’m usually not one for sweet things, but the creamed spinach and candied pork belly all came together with the meat patty, and biting into this was a big mix of flavours that seemed to work quite well together. I polished this burger off in a short amount of time because it was delicious, and also because it isn’t the BIGGEST burger. However, the taste and overall flavour combinations somewhat make up for that. Not worried about the bank? Then definitely order another one, or try another burger on their menu.

I’ve also had the Fried Chicken Burger (12,000 won) at LCAB, with its perfectly cooked bacon (crispy, but not to the point where it snaps — there was a good portion of it, too), swiss cheese melted over the fried chicken, tomato, lettuce, and house-made ranch sauce. Chicken and bacon always work well for me, and slammed between some swiss cheese? Winning! Lol. The chicken burger is a pretty straight-forward burger; the homemade ranch sauce works with everything else going on in this burger.

LCAB also does bao buns, specialty burgers, starters (such as polenta fries and kalbi fries), and dessert. Although LCAB might be on the pricier side, the quality of food and service makes up for it. They also have a killer brunch menu, which I’ll be writing about in my next post.
