The following guide is for individuals that are trying to apply for their Residence certificate (거소신고증) in Korea. If you are an F4 visa holder, this process should be done within 30 days since you have arrived in Korea.

What is a Residence certificate (거소신고증) ?

Residence Certificate (거소신고증) is a Korean national identification card. It is equivalent to a social security and ID card all in one. An ARC is needed to register and sign up for essential services such as a cell phone plan, internet, banking, as well as a credit card.

Having a Residence certificate (거소신고증) also allows you to be enrolled in the Korean national health/medical insurance and pension plan.

You must register for a Residence certificate (거소신고증) within 30 days of your arrival.
