SMOE Application Documents

The following documents are required to submit an application to EPIK to obtain an interview for a particular intake. Files must be completed digitally and sent via email to your Korvia recruiter.

EPIK Online Application Form (EPIK-SEOUL)

Candidates must submit the fully competed Microsoft Word version of the EPIK Application form to their recruiter. The EPIK Application form must also have the Sample Lesson Plan and Personal Essay attached.

Sample Lesson Plan
Applicants must create an original sample lesson plan that includes teaching materials such as powerpoint slides, worksheets, or other activities. For information please visit the Sample Lesson Plan Guide.

Personal Essay
A Personal Essay that totals 500-800 words must also be submitted. The essay must address three topics: Why you wish to teach in Korea, your teaching philosophy, and how people should deal with encountering cultural differences. For more information please visit the Personal Essay Guide.

SMOE Application Attachment (Digital file)

Those applying to the SMOE program will need to fill out an additional attachment for the standard EPIK application form. This informs EPIK that the particular individual is interested in applying for an SMOE position.

Applicants should fill the information requested on the form as well as state their expected SMOE payscale level (SMOE’s payscale differs from the EPIK payscale).

Passport Sized Photo (Digital file)

Applicants will need a passport-sized photos to submit with their EPIK application. The photo should be digitally attached to application file in the designated place as noted on the front page.

Photos must be the official passport size of 25 x 35mm and must be in front of a completely white backdrop. Personal photos such as those from Facebook or other social media sites will not be accepted.

Two (2) Letters of Recommendation (Scanned file)

EPIK requires two letters of recommendation from academic professors or previous/current employers regarding your work ethic and abilities. Scans of both letters of recommendation will be needed to apply to EPIK and the original copies will need to be sent in with your final documents after you pass your EPIK interview.
