Our contributor, photographer Amy Benham, takes you into the world of Korean fashion!
In a country which places so much pressure on the rituals of studying, going to a good university, and securing a good job, straying from that stable path can be seen as failure. However, these days there are a lot more Koreans branching out into new creative fields and feeling brave enough to showcase their true individuality and unique talents. Seoul Fashion Week is the perfect place to find this creativity. It’s a place for people of all ages to come together and meet other like-minded people. It’s not just about clothes–it’s a whole experience.
Korean street fashion and street culture is generally very trend-driven. However, the younger generations are bringing much more fair and diversity to Korea’s fashion and culture scenes. Rather than reviewing the clothing collections of the shows I attended, this album is about the fashion scene of the people of Korea; the people being inspired by each other; and the people like you and me.
